My “To-Publish” list has grown a bit so I’m releasing this Construct collection a bit early. Up next is a Zombies collection which is also pretty well complete and should be out later this week and then I’m working on “Birdfolk” and then I’ll take some time to redo + add to my elf collection. I’m at 186 completed models as of posting this – at 200 I’m going to add more humans to the human collection – on Thingiverse it has over 50 likes now which is surprising since it’s my least favourite due to a lack of models, variety, quality (despite being redone fairly recently). In other news this Patreon passed 10 subscribers – that’s not many but it’s super neat, there are more people following that I don’t know than those I know – aside from posting links on printables/thingiverse (and a few other minor ones) – I’m not broadcasting this out yet. So welcome all, excited to have you here, the next milestone is when someone other than my wife comments on these posts 🙂
Onto Constructs! The gallery here has the makes, some renders, screenshots and the source photos at the end of the post.
These creatures typically animated via magic of some kind. Animated Armor is a creature in early parts of campaigns – one against a small party can be deadly because of their high armor class and multiple hits. Golems tend to be made to guard things – they are mindless sentries made from the nearby earth or stone. Scarecrows are interesting ones – in Curse of Strahd they’re made by an evil witch and stuffed with the feathers of ravens.
Models in this collection:
golem_stone2 – The featured image here, this is a more traditional stone golem, all the stone muscles, muscles on the muscles. I’m not super happy with the eyes – maybe I should have used little circles instead – idk but this is where I landed and I think the print looks pretty good
animated_armor x2 – Two variations with #2 being a bit more ornate with a cape, these could also be knights etc… I don’t have weapons added to these but add a comment and I can add a weapon or shield of your choice to these and add them here
golem_stone1 – This is literally a stone block with arms and legs, it might be an easy remix into a Mecha warrior of some kind, it just needs a head added, the render photos shows A LOT of grit which I didn’t like so I only added texture to the panel on the back and kept the rest smooth – this doesn’t show up on small / FDM prints but should appear on Resin and the larger print – I love the idea of a bunch of earth Genasi carving runes onto a boulder that they liked then slapping on arms and legs because they wanted it to be friends
scarecrows x4 – I’m currently running Curse of Strahd and while I LOVE the scarecrows that I’ve been able to find online I haven’t seen a lot of variety, there are two standard spooky scarecrows and then a more whimsical female/male version.
In my backlog for constructs are many many suits of armor of various races, more golems – more of the “literal stone block” versions which could be mecha suits, more traditional or “temple guardian” style, some that could be borderline cursed giants (so might appear in that collection).
