As of writing this we have made 61 more models so we’re at 1018 models I’ll probably update this a few more times before Friday this is where we’re at right now. I won’t bore you with numbers just yet – first let’s look at this week’s models!

Models this week:

Now time for the numbers!!

On the print sites I have about 299 designs published so these 1018 models fall into those 299 designs or “projects” and those have 2400 or so STL files.

Here is a breakdown of the projects by category – many many humanoid creatures. The hands fall into the “items” section but many of those aren’t exported the same as other models so the STL count is a bit low there I think..

Some approximate platform stats:

  • On Thingiverse our models have had 200,000 views, 34,200 downloads, 10,700 likes we have 360 followers. The most popular model on here by far is the Books Prop and Mimic collection 10% of the total views and almost that much downloads.

  • On Printables our models have had 50,500 views, 12,700 downloads, 3150 likes and we have 135 followers. The books and fungi collections I made did really well here. On Printables it seems like AI models do much much worse in general – both of my “successful” models here were handmade – the dinosaur skeleton did OK here but nothing did as well as on Thingiverse

  • On Cults3d our models have had 125,000 views, 6170 downloads (this view count to download ratio makes me think views count as impressions in listings and not just model page views), 600 likes and 89 followers. Additionally Cults has an optional “Pay what you want” model so I’ve made $150 (Canadian) in donations or sales or whatever you want to call it. It’s a tiny tiny amount but it’s very passive and I’m excited every time I see a sale.

Other stuff this week:

  • I setup a Google Drive system for patrons to get access to my models organized nicely in one place – for only $10 / month this open up access to over 1000 models across nearly 300 projects and a total of (as of writing this) 2413 STL files (this includes models with baseplates and without, size variants, model parts etc… etc.. things that I don’t consider unique models towards the official “count” but are part of the package nonetheless).

  • I started livestreaming my modelling work on Twitch, publishing videos to YouTube as well

  • I’ve built a new model rendering system to help me generate content for shortform videos on instagram, tiktok, youtube etc… etc… I’m going to try putting together a pipeline for sign ups to this Patreon on those social platforms – we’ll see how it goes

For those socials:

  • Streaming

  • Also instagram and tiktok accounts where I’m posting renders of models and timelapses of the livestream videos

Weeeoww ok that was a lot. I think that’s it for this week. I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to drive more into Patreon and other channels so I can make a run at this modelling work work longer term. With a larger audience I should be freed up to work on more ambitious projects. That’s the dream at least.

That’s it for now. Thanks as always for following along 🙂
