I’ve been slacking on models – I found a squirrel to chase and it has been fun.
Last week someone shared an image of Cards that they had made for their DND campaign and I thought it was a really cool idea and that every campaign should have these (this is how my brain tends to operate).
So I spent the last two days adding this little card builder to gmbuddy.com/cards where you can create some custom printable cards. Since GMBuddy is already a tool for GMs to print 3d models of the characters / creatures in their campaigns I was able to wire in the creature lookup functionality to build out little templates. I’ve added the images to the post here and the PDF files as attachments below. This is kinda grey legally but nobody is selling this stuff – just be cool and it’ll all be good >_>
I spent a little bit of time today putting together card sets for Wild Beyond the Witchlight using the official artwork. I chatted with an artist who have some nice Curse of Strahd Artwork too so I might be able to share that (but probably only on reddit or other neutral / non-promotional space and not here since that might be crossing a line).
I think this is mostly in a good state with only a few annoying bugs that need to be fixed – it might be nice to include the sources images on the site too but right now you have to drop in your own images. Another option is maybe using all the AI artwork / images I’ve generated over the last year but I’m not sure how people would feel about that. Since it’s a 3d printing size we could also drop in STL files into the cards but that could be a huge pain to position and snap the right photo of. TBD.
IF you’re interested in discussing GMBuddy or raise bugs or keep an eye on other updates you can pop over to the subreddit about it over here: reddit.com/r/ttrpgbuddy/ (r/gmbuddy is taken but ttrpgbuddy was the original name idea and companion mobile app for the site but that .com was taken when I started the site but isn’t now so I own it – maybe time for a rebrand??)
Anyways – that’s all. Back to model work for me tomorrow. Fingers crossed we can get another Fort Nandar update by the end of the week!
