These are like bizarro world unicorns that want to destroy anything good and pure and true. Much like a republican congressman or Elon Musk.
I didn’t end up with a lot of usable horse images (despite trying to generate a lot along with centaurs) – often they didn’t have four legs or had some other anomalies. This was one of the few that turned out but of course it had a derpy jaw.
This model was something I had whipped together back in December, I had tried to adjust it’s neck and leg but it’s not quite like a galloping agent of terror. And then I never got around to publishing. As a part of cleaning up my backlog I adjusted to sculpting on this fellow and re-optimized the model (aiming for that 200k vertices / 20mb file size).
I was about to hit publish and realized that it needed flames (since they tend to be covered in flames in DND at least!!) so I had to figure that out. I tried looking up tutorials on how to generate flames (and now know how to animate them which is the first time I’ve ever animated something in Blender now) and I needed them to be actual mesh/geometry (because we need more geometry) and found this post: https://blenderartists.org/t/fire-flames-as-a-mesh/696783 – they took a cone and used my absolute favorite DISPLACE modifier. It also adjusts the noise based on another object so the flames ended up pretty diverse.
I kinda wish the tail were a bit more curved and the snout was longer than the lower jaw but the lower jaw this way is pretty terrifying… maybe you could even say…. Nightmare Fuel? I could continue to play with it but the spirit of progression pushes me forward to the next model.
You can find the files for this creature on my thingiverse and printables pages here:
